How do we visually remember and narratively register a traumatic history? We will look at the cinema of the Arab world for clues, fragments, and allegories.  The Arab world is going through major historic changes, changes that are predicated on an entire history of postcolonial nation-building, its triumphs and tragedies.  Through a close examination of some key moments in Arab cinema, we will consider the function of traumatized memories in the foregrounding of the revolutionary momentum we witness today.
