To students who have yet to fulfill the College’s Second Language Requirement:

Your next opportunity to take a language placement exam will be Tuesday April 1st in Raether Library, Level B, Computer Lab B-03 and Wednesday April 2nd in Raether Library, Level B, Computer Lab B-02. You may only take the exam once during any given testing period, and no more than twice in your Trinity career. You must fulfill the Second Language Requirement in order to graduate.

In order to continue studying a language you began learning in high school, take the language placement exam before enrolling in a language course at Trinity. The exam will help you and the faculty to determine the appropriate level of study for you in the coming semester, and which course(s) you will need in order to complete the requirement. Excellent performance on the placement exam can result in completion of the language requirement without coursework at Trinity.

The only students who do not need to take a language placement exam at Trinity are those

·         who scored 600 or above on an SAT II foreign language exam; a 4 or 5 on an AP foreign language exam; or a 5, 6, or 7 on the IB foreign language exam;

·         whose native language is not English;

·         who are planning to study a language in which they have never taken a course before college, and so are enrolling in the 101-level course.

For further details on fulfilling the requirement, please visit:

 http://www.trincoll.edu/Academics/MajorsAndMinors/Language/Pages/SecondLang.aspx

If you have never taken a language placement exam at Trinity, you must first complete the brief online questionnaire by visiting the following Web site:

If you stop by and the labs are full, you will be asked to come back for the next available session.
